Air Intake Shutoff Valves
> ATEX Hazardous Area Certified
The Chalwyn SVX hazardous area series of butterfly air intake shutoff valves are ATEX approved for Zone 1, Gas Group IIB, T4 or Zone 21 hazardous area applications. The 12 and 24VDC valves are designed with “fail safe” actuation. The valve is held open when electrical power is supplied to the solenoid. When power is cut off due to the detection of an engine overspeed condition or cut off for any other reason, the valve will close.
> Swing Gate Valves
The Roda Deaco Swing Gate Valve is a positive spring operated air intake cut-off device that provides emergency overspeed protection for a diesel engine. The swing gate compact size requires minimal clearance in the engine compartment. The valve is available in several diameters and has a wide array of intake line connections available to meet the customer's engine requirements.
> Butterfly Valves
AMOT, Chalwyn, and Roda Deaco offer a broad selection of butterfly air intake shutoff valves for use in diesel engine overspeed protection systems. The spring operated positive shutoff butterfly valves utilize both fail safe and energize to close actuators. The actuators are available in electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, and manual operation.
> Automatic Self-Contained Valves
The Chalwyn automatic self-contained overspeed shutdown valves are flow actuated, requiring no external electrical or mechanical input devices. The closing force is provided by the intake air flow passing through the valve. The valve closes automatically when the engine speed exceeds a pre-set point. The valve automatically resets open soon after the engine has stopped, so the engine is ready for re-starting.
> Valve Air Intake Line Connections
To accommodate the installation requirements for the extensive variations of diesel engine applications, we offer a variety of valve connection methods for engine air intake lines. The connection methods include hose, Marmon flange (V-clamp), O-ring slip fit, bolted flange, and several additional custom connections.
> Speed Sensors
The speed sensors are designed to measure diesel engine RPM for use in the automatic electric or automatic electric-to-pneumatic overspeed protection systems. The sensors are typically mounted to detect the diesel engine flywheel RPM.
> Speed Switches
Speed switches are used to monitor engine rpm in automatic diesel engine overspeed protection systems. In the event of an engine overspeed condition, the speed switch will immediately take action to shut down the diesel engine. We have a several types of switches for use in a wide range of automatic shutdown systems including electric, hazardous area electric, and hydro-mechanical switches.
> Diesel Fuel Shutoff Valves
Diesel engine fuel shutoff valves are designed for applications where fuel shut down is required as a part of automatic engine shutdown systems. The hydromechanical engine fuel shutoff valves are designed for use as failsafe valves in oil pressure based hydromechanical systems. The air intake depression engine fuel shutoff valve is designed to operate in combination with diesel engine air intake shutoff valves.
> Installation and Activation Kits
We have a wide range of air intake shutoff valve installation kits and valve actuation kits. The valve installation kits are designed to ease the installation of the valve into the engine air intake line of most diesel engine applications. The valve actuation kits are designed to help integrate the shutoff valve into a complete diesel overspeed safety system. We have kits for systems ranging from fully automatic systems to manually actuated.
